I have never successfully made an apple pie. I can make just about any other kind of pie, but not apple. Isn’t that weird? They always come out watery. But, an apple galette… I’ve got that down. Now, I’m pretty lucky. Our local grocery sells products created by the Texas Pie Company located in Kyle, Texas. So, I just use one of their frozen pie dough pucks to make my galettes and pies. And, that’s what makes this a super simple recipe and 99% fool proof. I hope you try it!
It’s peach season in Texas! We had a late freeze, so the peaches are sticking to their stones. The taste was not effected – they are sweet & fragrant. Just perfect for this simple galette. Glad I grabbed some of these beauties.
The Poteet Strawberry Festival is this weekend & I’m dedicating the rest of the week to this small town’s award winning berries! I mean, I’ve got to because last week I bought a flat. And, in case you’re not up on your agricultural measurements a flat equals 12 pints (or hallocks) of strawberries. We ate this yummy galette, but the rest of the yummies I’m posting this week went to my hub’s & daughter’s work. Lawd, that was a lot of strawberries.
The danger of going to Costco is that your gonna come home with a boatload if whatever you buy. In my case, it’s plums! I’m gonna be makin’ plum everything, this week… Today, it’s a PLUM GALETTE – tart & sweet = yummy. And, of course, made easy by using the Texas Pie Original Pie Dough Puck. Gotta go! It’s time for dessert
I just love this galette. I made it a few weeks ago when we had friends over. They were so impressed! The dough I use is so flaky and the fruit tastes just sweet enough, but not too sweet. It is sooooo satisfying. And, it looks beautiful. Oh, and I love the crunch of the sliced almonds.
