BUTTERMILK BROWNIES all dressed up for Halloween! These brownies are lighter & fluffier than regular brownies, and are topped when still warm with a beautiful butter & confectioners sugar frosting. I have been making them for years and there’s a reason ~ they’re darn good.

Sweet Potato Bisque with Pear & Lime
Who doesn’t love a soup with a creamy texture and incredible flavor? This soup is from one of my fav cookbooks, Southwest Tastes. It’s no longer in print, but it was one of my earliest inspirations for being a more creative cook. My mom gave me the cookbook, so it holds very special memories. I’ve made a few adjustments to the recipe & I think you will love it! This soup has a few steps, but it’s well worth it!
Pumpkin Spice Muffins w/Streusel Topping
I found several versions of this recipe & this one is my fav. I’m guessing all of the recipes I found originated with this one from sallysbakingaddiction. I made an ever so small adjustment for my taste, but otherwise I wouldn’t want to mess with perfection. This is going to be on repeat these next few months.
Slow Braised Pot Roast
This beef is slowly braised with beautiful liquids and gorgeous vegetables. So colorful & it tastes divine. The addition of good red wine, balsamic vinegar and a touch of grainy mustard makes this really special. This recipe is on repeat all through the cooler months!
Southern Sweet Potato Casserole
I got this recipe from a friend’s mom a long long time ago. You know what that means? It’s good! The rich taste will immediately evoke thoughts of cooler temperatures and fall leaves. I make this for Thanksgiving, but it’s super delicious with pork chops, too. The streusel crumble on top is money!!
German Plum Cake
My mom always called this prune cake, but since I made this with plums I’m calling it plum cake. It’s a simple recipe and so delicious. More importantly, it reminds me of my mom. My family really loves this cake. It’s not too sweet and is perfect for this stone fruit.
Peach Cobbler
This cobbler is so easy & delicious you’re going to want to make it over and over! It’s a great way to showcase that yummy peach flavor with minimal effort. Serve with some ice cream and you’re set.
Butter Chicken
Our neighbor is from India and they invite us over often for the most delicious meals. One of my favs is Butter Chicken and I just had to figure out how to make it. Here is what I’ve come up with and I’m very happy with the flavor and texture. Enjoy!
Turmeric Hummus
I’m on a bit of a turmeric kick! This hummus is light, tasty & versatile. Eat it with chips, smear it on a tostada or enjoy it with falafel or kibbeh. Don’t you just love the color?!
